It was the start of a new day, the sky was filled with clouds, but here and there the sun still shone through and made it to a pleasantly warm morning. It was actually a pretty good day for fishing, which was one of the first thoughts that Spyro had that morning, the second being to bring Cynder with him. He got out of his bed and started stretching his legs, much like a cat does. The tiredness let go of his legs and he felt ready to go, so he went to the magical door in his room and breathed some fire upon it. Well, rather, he tried, but the only thing that came forth was a small fume of smoke that rose towards the roof and then slowly faded away. He sighed, too tired to try again. So instead he put his paw on the door and then let some earth magic flow throughout his body. A green aura could be seen around his body, it was faint, but was enough to cause the door to open. He walked out of his room and went over to the door on the opposite side of the hallway. He let his paw rise yet again, but this time he just knocked. He put his paw down, and waited for a minute, but since nothing happened he asumed that the dragon in the room either had left already or was still asleep. He sighed again, more out of tiredness than dissapointment, then slowly walked off down the hallway.

A moment later he arrived at the dining room. And as he suspected, the dragon he was looking for, or rather, the dragoness he was looking for, was already at the table, devouring the roasted sheep in front of her. The air was rich with the smell of raosted meat and it got Spyro hungry in an instant. He went over to the dragoness and sat down on the opposite side of the table.

“Good morning” He said, a bit tired still, but happy nonetheless.
“Good morning, Spyro!” Cynder chirped, obviously well rested.

But that didn't keep Spyro from asking

“Did you sleep well?”
“Sure did” She answered
“Okay, so, any plans for today?”
“No, not really. Why?”

Spyro told her what he thought they should do that day and it seemed like she liked the idea. She reasoned with him about the fact that the guardians where gone that day and that they wouldn't be back before nightfall. Which ultimately ment that there would be no training that day, so in other words, the timing was perfect.

“Great, then let's eat up and get going!” Spyro allmost yelled, with a huge smile on his face.
“What's with you all of a sudden?” Cynder asked.
“I'm just eager to try out my new trick”.
“And what kind of trick is that, if I may ask?”.
“It's a trick, I can't just reveal my tricks to anyone Cynder, you know that”.
“No, Spyro, that's magic tricks, not normal “tricks” ”.
“Oh...well, I'd rather show you anyways”.
*sigh* “ Okay, guess I'll just have to wait then”

And so they ended up at the small lake nearby the temple. After Cynder pretty much had had to press the sheep down Spyro's throat to get him to eat something first that is. They looked up at the sky, and then down at the lake. The clouds made it look darker then normal and there was no telling what was actually down there in the blue, but from their earlier experiences they knew it contained fish and lots of it. Though even if it looked a bit gloomy, it wasn't windy that day. It was so calm in-fact, that the leaves in the trees surrounding them hang completely still. And the lack of wind made the small amount of heat coming from the sun feel much warmer. Spyro looked around at first and then back at Cynder.

“So, where should we place the picnic basket, Cyn?”
“Anywhere, it isn't raining or anything, so what does it matter”?

Cynder had insisted on bringing some snack with them and even if Spyro didn't think it was necessary when they weren't supposed to stay all day, he couldn't argue and had let her bring it with her anyways. Cynder put down the basket and looked over to Spyro. He noticed her eager look and wondered what it was she was waiting for.

“Come on Spyro, don't give me that confused look. You were supposed to show me your trick, remember?”
“Oh, yeah, come over here.”

They walked over to a small outcrop. Spyro turned around and put his tail in the water.

“So, what's different with this?
“Cyn, you know how we usually just let our tails hang in the water?”
“Yeah, of-course I know.”
“Right now, I'm not just holding it still, but swaying it calmly back and forth, it makes the fish more interested.”
“Oh, I see.”

Cynder dropped her tail in the water as well and then they sat there for about an hour. They both got quite a few fish each. Cynder had a lot more then Spyro though, her curved tail-blade served well as a hook and the fish unlucky enough to get caught on her blade, was thrown out of the water and in to a bucket they brought with them. As time went on, they both became a bit hungry, even Spyro had to admit that bringing the picnic basket had been a good idea. So Cynder went over to the basket which was a little further away from the lake and started opening it. Which was not such an easy task with no hands. But her muzzle was pretty sleek and it wasn't too hard for her to get it under the lid. Suddenly, the clouds dissipated and the sun-rays came shining through. And Spyro, who was looking at Cynder got speechless, taken by what he saw. The sun's rays shone right upon her and it made her scales shimmer in the light. And the beauty he was looking at got even more beautiful, as if she was not of this world, but another, where everything was perfect. Because in his eyes, everything about her really was perfect. The way her scales shimmered in the light, the way her horns shone bright and her smooth, calm movements, it was all breathtaking. He really was taken by the sight, so taken in-fact, that he didn't notice the large fish nibbling at his tail which was now swinging faster than before.

But not even the sight of Cynder could keep it unnoticed when the fish suddenly bit down hard and pulled, taking Spyro with it down into the water. Cynder was quick to turn around, but Spyro was already gone. It took her a second to understand what was going on, but when she realized what had happened she started laughing. She was a bit worried though, so she walked over to the spot he had been sitting at and watched over the edge, still laughing. And it didn't help her to calm down when she found a wet and roughly awakened Spyro in the water. She calmed down enough to lower down her tail, so he could bite down on it and let himself be dragged up. He didn't want to hurt her though, so he tried to climb with his feet as well and when he was up he laid down in the grass, panting a bit from the shock.

“Are you okay?” Cynder asked, still laughing, but with a bit of worry in her tone.
“I'm fine, just didn't expect such a rude awakening”
“So what happened, don't tell me a fish managed to outmatch this world's hero in strength?” She said jokingly.
“I...uh...I...didn't expect it at that moment, that's just it”
“And why weren't you expecting it? You where fishing after all.”
“I...uhm...”
“You what, where you daydreaming about something maybe?”
“Yeah...” He said, blushing a bit.
“Or Someone maybe?”

Spyro started blushing even more, had she already figured it out? He kept quiet, but his blush was clearly visible even with his purple scales and it told Cynder everything she needed to know. She started blushing as well at that moment, realizing she'd been right. She really liked him and knowing that he had been staring at her made her blush just as much as he did. They were both too shy to say anything after that and it took a while until Spyro asked if they should head back to the temple. She wanted the embarrassing moment to be over as well, so she agreed. Spyro got up and walked over to the bucket with fish and grabbed onto the handle with his mouth. Cynder walked over to the basket and did likewise. And when they both had a good grip, they looked at each other for a brief second and then took off into the sky.
So, this is something small I've had in mind since long ago, but I never go down to doing it. I've been wanting to do a comic about this. It hasn't happened yet, but we'll see...

Very cute but do you want my honest opinion?
